MODERATOR's ADVICE

A forum like this can be seen as the original social media. It's quite basic really.

There are seven fora here; English, Spanish, German, French, Bulgarian, Polish and Russian - with the additional ones for translated transcripts.

For newbies:

If you are new to writing posts, there are some points to remember:

The posts are organized in threads, which are started by the first post with a header. That first post is the topic of the thread. Everybody can post replies there. It's preferred that you relate to the topic in your reply. If you don't, it's better to start a new thread where you phrase the topic in the header.

You start a new thread by clicking on "Post new topic" on your chosen forum-page.

You reply to an existing thread by clicking on "Post reply" in your chosen thread.

You then write your post in the frame on the bottom of the page. There you also find links to a help-page to put code into your post. That's nice for styling and will make your posts very reader-friendly with some practice.

If you reply to a previous statement in a thread, click on "Quote" in the post where the statement appeared. That entire post will then appear in your up-coming writing-frame. Then you delete everything except the *statement* you pick up on, and except for the {quote}-brackets before and after, so it appears in the preview like this:

nickname wrote:

*statement*

Then you write your comment.

Note: If you leave out "=nickname" in the writing-frame, there will be no reference to whom you are replying. But it's a nice feature if you wish to highlight an external quote.

HOW TO WRITE GOOD POSTS:

1) Be nice. We all like that. And if you are, you will most likely be treated nicely back.

2) The shortest posts are read the most.

3) If you bore the reader, the reader will skip reading. If you annoy the reader, the reader will skip reading.

4) If you write your post with a lot of graphical styling, it will appear messy as a first impression. Messy posts are easily skipped unread by the reader. The really bad ones get removed, as they are considered "noise."

5) No pictures/images can be uploaded - there's no storage capacity for that. But you can use an external link ("url") with the "img-tag" as shown under "links and images" when you write your post. Then it will show up.

6) If you use code for a link as shown under "links and images," it will show up much nicer in the text, without the actual url showing.

Conduct

If you break the rules, you either
    a) - get a warning,
    b) - get your post removed, or
    c) - get suspended or banned.

The easiest way to get banned is to place an advert for a product with an external link in your post. Contact-information (e.g. postal addresses, email-addresses, phone-numbers, etc.) in the posts will be removed. Read the rules. There's a link to them on top of each page, but please also keep Matias' first post above here in mind.

So, some breaches of good conduct in this forum may lead to suspension (temporary) or banning (permanent). This is at the discretion of a moderator or admin. This also concerns outright polarization and attacks on fellow forum members. Such polarization may be initiated by others, but the moment it happens, we often see defensive wording phrased offensively with a strong potential for further escalation in the conversation. It is considered unwanted negativity displayed, and is evaluated as such also when presented in subtle wording. It goes without saying that this is considered deteriorating on the social climate in the forum.

Cosmic Agency represents something unique in this world. Never before have we seen direct communication with other-worldly beings (people) over such long period, and available for review in the open society. We are even encouraged to view this site as their 'home'. So when we - as members of this 'home' - communicate here, our words can be reached by everybody with an internet-connection.

We have therefore adopted the policy of zero-tolerance for outright negative conduct, as is clearly indicated in the forum rules.

Discuss the message, not the messenger.

New rule to be put in place effective inmediately:

Promotion of any private servers and groups from now on is PROHIBITED. We cannot be monitoring any of these groups for its ethics, and to avoid us getting in the middle of possible dramas between members of those groups, I hereby declare promoting of any of private servers and groups as not allowed. Please remove links in personal signatures. Thank you.

Moderator's Note:

To limit the personal conflicts in the forum, please do your best to follow this guideline:

"Making the discussion about the messenger and not the message is allowed only if it is done in a genuinely respectful manner to the messenger. If you find it hard to engage with a member in a genuinely respectful manner, then do your best to focus on the content of their posts and not make the discussion personal about the poster. And when you start getting into a personal conflict with another member, please remember to disengage before things escalate too much."

And also after disengaging and taking a break from each other, you can always repair the relationship and patch things up, when and if both parties are ready and feel like it.

Thank you.

"If you do feel pulled in, to save, protect, others, I would suggest to examine the energy of the “guardian” instead. Not the weaponized guardian, but the guardian like an impenetrable wall energy. No consequences to who tries to trespass, just an impossibility of getting through." - Inelia
