The moon you see is a hologram. What is a convienent way to model a complex hologram that needs to be realistic? You base it off other realistic things.
I mean you can go stare at the moon and watch it move in and out of what should be a regular orbit. This is why I'm convinced they mean what they say that the moon is almost off and that no one really maintains it, and is a graveyard. It's hologram.

Imagine how strong and big have to be the lighting of this hologram to be seen from such distance and this big from Earth. It is literally like a planetary size lantern beam to be able to light up the night here.
